cat skirmish

May 18th, 2009

my cat lost a fight the other day. my wife heard load violent meowing from the back yard, wen to the sliding door and saw a strange cat on the porch - black and white spotted. can get the details of the color later. maybe ask my daughter to draw it. it was hissing at my cat, who was backing away. my wife opened the door and our cat dove inside. the stranger cat, the itnruder, the interloper, ran away around to the front of the house across the cul-de-sac and past the neighbor’s house.

there’s the story - but tell it from both cats’ points of view.

Remember that eagle that hit your car?

May 17th, 2009

an eagle attacks a car running down the road through the cornfields downstate - happened to my sister’s boss? co-worker? tears off the rear-view mirror. bounces off the car., fumbles, does almost a somersault in mid0air, but recovers and flies away,.the driver pulls over to the side of the road and parks, . he replays it in his mind. he gets out and looks back at the jawk or eagle flying away, he replayus irt in his mind, then gets back i the car and replays irt on all the video recorsing equipment in there. screeens flop open to replace the windshield, rear-view mirrors -0 it plays it all back for him,. because he can;t in his mind. he has no natural memory.

Beckett meets Tolkien

May 16th, 2009

Existential fantasy story - Beckett meets Tolkien. A contemplative tale of a fighter/adventurer resting outside of a cave (barrow). He watches a squirrel sit on his helmet, watches the autumn leaves fall from the trees. Because he’s paralyzed.

Yeah, this has probably already been done better by Tolkien with the hobbits in the barrow downs. And where is the Beckett? Perhaps the perspective switches to the wight who has paralyzed the adventurer and is now dragging him into its crypt. I bet he has an existence rather like something from a Beckett novel.

And yes I’ve been playing too much Oblivion.

Man goes through a severe, roller-coaster emotional crisis: death of a child, loss of his wife, loss of his job - a Job-like adventure. Eventually he comes to accept these losses, and treasure or at least live in a simple moment-to-moment existence - a breeze on his cheek, and the rustle of leaves. One evening he feels rather light headed - almost as f he were high. Flashback? he thinks. Just tired? Some state from the bi-polar catalog? (He must have lived through all the others in the past months). He feels disconnected from the world around him, a little light-headed, almost as if his body is drifting apart. He toys with idea of this being some kind of elightenment- a natural, unbidden achievement of nirvana, or a visitation from God. He is in fact, at the gateway of death. This feeling is an initial stage. He has become ready through his acceptance of loss.
